The origin
The first one was a gift.
Pauline spent every summer in a house between Monaco and Saint-Tropez. When a guest stayed, she knitted her a pouch and named it after the town she had come from. Then she did it again. And again.
Havana. Tangier. Ravello. Each name belongs to somebody — the guest who first carried it, and the town she came from. Sixty years on they still turn up: a drawer in Milan, a boat off Capri, a market in Marrakech.
We make them the way she did: knitted by hand, finished by hand, in runs small enough to remember. The one change is that the naming is no longer ours. Members shortlist the places and vote, and the winning name goes on the label, credited.
